Calcium Chloride Anhydrous is a highly hygroscopic material, commonly used as a desiccant or drying agent. Calcium chloride is also commonly used to lower the freezing point of solutions, preventing ice formation for a variety of applications.
The purified specification is used in applications that do not require tight specification limits on impurities, compared to the ACS, FCC or USP versions, commonly required for laboratory or food/pharma uses. The 4-8 mesh size roughly translates to 2-5 mm sized beads/prills.
